ARTESIA at Hafen Ranch

The best of life awaits you in just a short 60 minute drive from Las Vegas. PAHRUMP VALLEY is a spectacular location with wide open spaces, beautiful mountains, lush valley floor and small town values.

Pahrump, "the valley of abundant water", was populated over 700 years ago by the Piaute tribe. The artesian springs in the valley brought ranchers, the pony express and stagecoaches in the late 1800's and the famous Pop Buol winery in early 1900. In the 1930's artesian wells were discovered and ranchers were attracted by the plentiful water flowing from these wells. This clear, cool artesian water still flows from deep wells.

The land that encompasses ARTESIA was established in 1939 by Louis Kellogg, heir to the Kellogg telephone manufactruing fortune for CHicago. She drilled wells, planted barley and commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright, Jr. to design the grain mill that still stand on this site.

ARTESIA has two artesian wells that still flow water without pumping and has been owned by the Hafen family since 1951. They raised cotton until 1983 and alfalfa, wheat and cattle pasture after that. Tim Hafen has dedicated the past 48 years to helping make Pahrump a wonderful community and Nevada a great State to live in.
